If we detain people without hearings, wiretap our own citizens, and torture people on mere suspicions, the terrorists have won, because we have given up everything our country has stood for.

Um ... Looks like we have given up everything our country has stood for.

What's Past is Prologue

A $110 million renovation of The National Archives building was completed in late 2003. The National Archives building on Pennsylvania Avenue is where The Declaration of Independence, The Constitution, and Bill of Rights are displayed in new, air-tight, state-of-the-art cases with a new security system provided by Diebold, Inc.

Two statues stand outside the National Archives. One is called "Study the Past" and the other explains why: "What is Past is Prologue."

After visiting The National Archives, one cannot help feeling the vital necessity and responsibility of studying and reporting … History.

An attribute completely lacking in our Mainstream media.

If the CBS-NBC-ABC-FOX-CNN-MSNBC News Divisions had lived up to their obligation of informing the public of pertinent historical facts … we could have identified as criminals the men who have run for, and been elected, to public office … for generations.

There would have been no Bush Crime Family

George Herbert "Bert" Walker and his son-in-law Prescott Bush were members of the cabal that plotted to overthrow our government in 1933. The plot was derailed by Major General Smedley Butler. The McCormack-Dickstein hearings confirmed the coup attempt but they refused to take any action against the people Butler named as being part of the conspiracy.

George Herbert Walker and Prescott Bush worked directly to finance Hitler with the Union Banking Corporation.

Walker took over the North American operations of the Hamburg-Amerika Line, a cover for I.G. Farben's Nazi espionage unit in the United States. The shipping line smuggled in German agents, propaganda, and money for bribing American politicians to see things Hitler's way. The holding company was Walker's American Shipping & Commerce.

In 1942, the U.S. government charged Prescott Bush with running Nazi front groups in the United States. Under the Trading with the Enemy Act, all the shares of the Union Banking Corporation were seized. Those assets were held by the government for the duration of the war, then returned afterward. Union Banking Corporation was dissolved in 1951. Prescott Bush cleared $1.5 million from his Nazi investments and used the cash to launch Bush family investments in the Texas energy industry.

In 1952, Prescott Bush was elected to the Senate

In 1988, George Herbert Walker's grandson, Prescott Bush's son, George Herbert Walker Bush, was elected president. He oversaw one of the most massive frauds ever perpetrated upon taxpayers in American history.

The Savings & Loan scandal, brewing since the Reagan/Bush administration took office in 1981, exploded.

If the insolvent Savings & Loans had been shut down in 1980, the government's insurance fund would have covered the losses and only administrative costs would have been incurred. If they'd been liquidated in May 1985, it would have cost less than $16 billion. By the end of 1985, the costs were estimated at $30 billion. The ultimate cost of the Savings & Loan bailout will be $950 billion. That comes to about $32 billion a year … and American taxpayers are locked into it for thirty years, no matter what we do or who we elect.

George W. Bush, great grandson and grandson of traitors, Nazi supporters and war profiteers … and son of George H.W. Bush, is presiding over another gigantic financial meltdown that will be repaid by the American taxpayers.

Today Greg Palast reported:

This week, Bernanke's Fed, for the first time in its history, loaned a selected coterie of banks one-fifth of a trillion dollars to guarantee these banks' mortgage-backed junk bonds. The deluge of public loot was an eye-popping windfall to the very banking predators who have brought two million families to the brink of foreclosure.

When the Fed lends money … we pay it pack.

And this is just the beginning.

As of March 1, 2008 analysts from three large financial institutions estimated the Subprime mortgage crisis impact would be between $350-600 billion.

Add that to the projected 3 trillion dollar cost of the Iraq War and Occupation.

If any Mainstream Media Institution in this country had operated on the principle of "What's Past is Prologue" … y'know … report the facts … the Bush Crime Family, and their confederates, would have been in prison … not public or corporate office.

And … We could have fired the guy who suggested awarding the contract to provide security for The Declaration of Independence, The Constitution, and Bill of Rights to … Diebold.

Thanks guys ... They couldn't have done it without you.

Regards,

Bob

The discrepancy between the kind of society many Germans thought they were building and the reality of the horror of the Third Reich presents one of the most intriguing questions of our age. How could Fascism -- have happened in a modern, industrialized, educated nation?

Books I Give To People I Know and Maybe They'll Still Talk To Me
But Probably Won't

Deep Green Resistance - Strategy to Save the Planet
Aric McBay, Lierre Keith, and Derrick Jensen

For years, Derrick Jensen has asked his audiences, “Do you think this culture will undergo a voluntary transformation to a sane and sustainable way of life?” No one ever says yes.

Deep Green Resistance starts where the environmental movement leaves off: industrial civilization is incompatible with life. Technology can’t fix it, and shopping—no matter how green—won’t stop it. To save this planet, we need a serious resistance movement that can bring down the industrial economy. Deep Green Resistance evaluates strategic options for resistance, from nonviolence to guerrilla warfare, and the conditions required for those options to be successful.

The Prosecution of George W. Bush for Murder
by Vincent Bugliosi

"I hope that at some time in the near future a courageous U.S. attorney general, U.S. attorney, state attorney general, or district attorney in America who is committed to the rule of law and who has dedicated his career to enforcing the law fairly against all who, big or small, violate it, will hear the cries for justice from the graves of the thousands upon thousands of men, women, and children who had their lives violently cut short because of the lies of a man who smiled through it all. And that, with a sense of uncompromising righteousness, he will take the ample case I have laid out in this book before an American jury to let them decide whether George W Bush is guilty or not guilty of murder, and if so, what his punishment should be.

Even if this doesn't happen and what I have said in this book receives all the attention of a new fly in the forest, I do know that someone had to say what is written on the pages of this book."

Rules for Radicals
by Saul D Alinsky

"What follows is for those who want to change the world from what it is to what they believe it should be. The Prince was written by Machiavelli for the Haves on how to hold power. Rules for Radicals is written for the Have-Nots on how to take it away."

In 1971, Saul Alinsky wrote an entertaining classic on grassroots organizing titled Rules for Radicals. For Alinsky, organizing is the process of highlighting what is wrong and convincing people they can actually do something about it.

The End of America: Letter of Warning To A Young Patriot
by Naomi Wolf

In a stunning indictment of the Bush administration and Congress, best-selling author Naomi Wolf lays out her case for saving American democracy. In authoritative research and documentation Wolf explains how events of the last six years parallel steps taken in the early years of the 20th century’s worst dictatorships such as Germany, Russia, China, and Chile.

As Basil Fawlty keenly observed:    but ... this is no joke.

The Shock Doctrine: The Rise of Disaster Capitalism
by Naomi Klein

Naomi Klein's The Shock Doctrine advances a truly unnerving argument: historically, while people were reeling from natural disasters, wars and economic upheavals, savvy politicians and industry leaders nefariously implemented policies that would never have passed during less muddled times. As Klein demonstrates, this reprehensible game of bait-and-switch isn't just some relic from the bad old days. It's alive and well in contemporary society, and coming soon to a disaster area near you. --Kim Hughes
